Election Day is here and we are in one of the closest races in the state. Tomorrow is your opportunity to exercise your right, and your sacred duty, to select men and women who share your beliefs, your hopes, and your values. This NC Senate seat could mean the difference in whether or not we as citizens of the 10th district take back control in Raleigh. The State Democratic Party and my opponent have thrown everything but the kitchen sink at me, and yet the momentum is still on our side. All I am asking for is your vote, so please go vote and make sure all your family and friends vote as well. I would like to thank everyone that has contributed their time, prayers, funds and everything else to my campaign. I could have not come this far without you! I will never forget all that you have done and I am most grateful for all of the help. This is going to be a very close race, so please VOTE! Thanks again!

Sincerely,

Brent Jackson

Below is a segment from campaign news in the Oct. 18, 2010 edition of the AgNews which talks of Dewy Hudson’s smear on Agriculture.

Dewey Hudson Attacks Agriculture in Campaign Attack Ads: The campaign race for the Senate seat being vacated by long-time Agriculture advocate Senator Charlie Albertson has taken a dark turn as Dewey Hudson authorizes an attack on agriculture in his attempt to win the election. Commissioner of Agriculture Steve Troxler has denounced the Agriculture Attack Ads authorized by Hudson saying “These ads infuriate me because they are a smear on all of agriculture. Someone who is running for the Senate seat of District 10, which represents Sampson, Duplin and Lenoir counties, should understand and appreciate agriculture – not attack it Just because there is foreign temporary labor on a farm does not mean the workers are so-called “illegals” – I’m proud to say that more farmers in North Carolina use the federal H2a program to hire legal farmworkers than any other state in the nation – and Brent Jackson is a credit to our industry because of his choice to make sure he hires legal H2a farmworkers. Dewey Hudson obviously sees agriculture in a negative light and he should apologize for smearing agriculture in an attempt to be elected.” In a series of mailers, the Agriculture Attack Ads authorized by Dewey Hudson accuse his opponent – Brent Jackson, a farmer in Sampson County – of hiring “illegal” farmworkers in order to be a successful farmer. The Agriculture Attack Ad mailers feature baskets of produce on the back of a pickup truck and fields with farm labor picking crops and cite a News & Observer article saying that Jackson admitted to hiring an illegal alien; however, there is no such statement in the article and Jackson has never been found guilty of hiring illegal aliens. In fact Jackson Farms pays premium wages by hiring H2a workers – which is a visa program very closely monitored by the Federal government to ensure American workers have first option on these jobs and that any foreign workers hired to fill the temporary farm jobs return to their country of origin within 10 months. The Jackson campaign has sent a letter to the Hudson campaign which states, “You have recently sent a mailing that contains two false statements about Mr. Jackson. We can also assume that you have made these statements with legal malice since the falsity of both statements is obvious or could have been discovered with reasonable diligence.”

We have just recently released two press release. One concerns our recent NRA endorsement and the other highlights all of the events we will be attending throughout the district.

NRA Officially Endorses Brent Jackson’s Campaign for North Carolina Senate

The NRA has officially endorsed Brent Jackson who is running for North Carolina Senate out of district 10. The NRA promotes firearm and hunting safety and educates the general public about firearms in their many contexts.

Mr. Jackson received his endorsement because of his commitment to defend and foster the Second Amendment rights of all law-abiding citizens. “The NRA-PVF is endorsing Brent Jackson because he is a strong defender of the Second Amendment freedoms of law-abiding gun owners, hunters and sportsmen in North Carolina,” said Chris W. Cox, chairman of the NRA Political Victory Fund. “On November 2, I urge all NRA members and gun owners in the 10th Senate District to vote Brent Jackson for North Carolina Senate.”

The race between Mr. Jackson and Mr. Hudson has received increased media exposure in the past couple of weeks due to the slanderous mailers Mr. Hudson has been sending to voters. The mailers accuse Mr. Jackson of hiring illegal immigrants to work on his farm, which is not based on any truth. Mr. Hudson has also taken his false message to the TV and radio airwaves.

Brent Jackson has Been Hitting the Campaign Trail

NC Senate Candidate Brent Jackson has been all over the 10th district, which encompasses Sampson, Lenoir, and Duplin County. On October 9, 2010 Mr. Jackson attended the Community Breakfast at Elizabeth Baptist Church, the Court Square Street Fair and BBQ, the Burr Tour Stop in Kinston, and the Lenoir Hunters Association’s Auction. Mr. Jackson finished the week by attending ‘Rally in the Park’ in Clinton on Sunday. Mr. Jackson stared out the week by attending the North Lenoir Fire Department meeting on Monday and Mac Daughety’s Pig-Picken on Tuesday.

Today Mr. Jackson attended a Meet and Greet in Pink Hill, which was held by Anthony and Sonya Smith, and will be attending the CANdidate Meet and Greet in Kinston tonight. Tomorrow Mr. Jackson will be attending the Rotary Club lunch meeting in Kinston before making his way to the Clinton-Sampson Rotary Club Shrimp Fest. He will then finish out the day by attending the Lenoir County GOP Oyster Roast and the NAACP Candidate Forum at the Sampson Co. Ag-Expo Center.

On October 16th Mr. Jackson will attend a car show at the Duplin County GOP headquarters, and the BF Grady School Charity Fundraiser. On October 18th Mr. Jackson will participate in the Wallace Chamber of Commerce Political Forum, and on October 21 he will attend the Kiwanis Club meeting in Clinton. “It is very important that I get out and meet the people of the 10th district” said Jackson. “The people are who I will be working for when I am elected, and those people are who I want to hear from.”

We are very excited to announce that former House Speaker Newt Gingrich has officially endorsed our campaign. Below is the official endorsement from Mr. Gingrich himself.

The entire twentieth century came and went without a single Republican-led North Carolina Senate. Democrats won the majority during William McKinley’s presidency and never relinquished it. That’s about to change.

This year, across North Carolina strong conservative candidates stepped forward to run for the state Senate. Twelve of those candidates embody the energy, aptitude, and fresh ideas that epitomize the national Republican resurgence of 2010.

Today, I am excited to announce my official endorsement for one of those 12 challengers for the North Carolina Senate: Brent Jackson.

Brent Jackson grasps the perilous situation North Carolina finds itself in – with a $3 billion budget deficit next year created by Democrats who have increased state spending by 50 percent in just the past eight years. Wasteful spending doesn’t lead to new jobs; it leads to higher taxes.

As a successful farmer and businessman, Brent understands that small businesses are the engine of economic growth and job creation. Brent will work to get the government out of the way of eastern North Carolina’s job creators by cutting burdensome regulations and reducing taxes. The solution is less government interference in the private economy, less government spending on pet projects and pork, and lower taxes for families and businesses.

Brent Jackson has the experience and the conservative values that it will take to turn the state’s economy around and put North Carolinians back to work. That’s why I am pleased to endorse him in this race in this key battleground district.

Newt Gingrich

Below is a copy of the letter that was sent to Dewy Hudson in reference to his slanderous ads against me.

Dear Mr. Hudson and Mr. Young:

We represent Mr. Brent Jackson. We have been engaged to take all necessary steps to protect his reputation. In the hope that litigation may be avoided, we request that you cease and desist from making any further fraudulent and slanderous accusations against Mr. Jackson as part of Mr. Hudson’s campaign for district 10 of the North Carolina Senate.

You have recently sent a mailing that contains two false statements about Mr. Jackson. We can also assume that you have made these statements with legal malice since the falsity of both statements is obvious or could have been discovered with reasonable diligence.

First, Mr. Jackson has never admitted nor been found guilty of hiring any illegal aliens. You cite an article from the News and Observer dated 7/25/07, to support your false statement. Nowhere in this article is there a statement or admission by Mr. Jackson that he in fact has ever hired an illegal alien. The article contains a conclusion by the reporter that Mr. Jackson had hired illegal aliens in the past but no such statement by Mr. Jackson. Please immediately cease and desist from any further fraudulent use of the United States mail, false misrepresentations of the text of the article, or blatantly false statements that Mr. Jackson has admitted to any such illegality.

Second, Mr. Jackson never refused to pay any employee who suffered a workplace illness or injury. The employee who is referenced in your mailing suffered a heat illness while working on Mr. Jackson’s farm. This work place illness was covered by Mr. Jackson’s workers’ compensation insurance. As I am sure you already know, or as you could have easily discovered with reasonable diligence, once a matter is accepted by an employer’s workers’ compensation carrier, the decision on whether to compensate an injured employee is made by the carrier or by the Industrial Commission if the carrier refuses to reach a settlement with the injured employee. Mr. Jackson had no authority to pay or not to pay the injured employee once control of the matter was assumed by Mr. Jackson’s carrier.

We are aware that several other Republican candidates for The North Carolina Senate have also been falsely accused of legal violations they did not commit in mailings paid for and coordinated with the North Carolina Democratic Party. Your mailer defaming Mr. Jackson is obviously part of a concerted and fraudulent pattern of activity to falsely accuse Republican candidates of criminal violations.

Should you continue to use the United Sates mail to make similar fraudulent statements about Mr. Jackson, falsely accusing him or criminal violations and defaming him in his profession, he intends to pursue all available remedies. These will include claims against you and the North Carolina Democratic Party, and all officers and agents of the State Democratic Party who have conceived and authorized these blatantly fraudulent allegations, for defamation and RICO violations.

We would appreciate hearing from your counsel so that both campaigns may re-focus their energies on fair campaigning as opposed to litigation.

Very truly yours,

Thomas A. Farr

I am sure that you are used to receiving campaign letters asking for financial contributions – and while there is no doubt that the proper finances will be critical in the days leading up to the election, today I am writing you for a different reason.

I am writing about how you can make the difference between whether North Carolina moves on the road towards prosperity for generations to come or whether we allow our state to be driven further into the ditch of debt that our children and grandchildren will be forced to repay.

The hard truth of the matter is that wrong people are in control of our state, and in a heated midterm election like this one, hard work can be the difference between victory and defeat. This is why I am asking you to volunteer for my campaign. There are a number of different task which can be easily executed, and yield great benefits at the polls.

For example, you can help my campaign for the North Carolina Senate between now and Election Day by putting out yard signs, making phone calls to registered voters, manning poll locations during early voting and Election Day, and much more.

To volunteer you can e-mail me at brent@brentjacksonforsenate.com or call my office at (910) 567-2202 . With your help you can send a true blue conservative like me – Brent Jackson – to represent you in Raleigh.

We are facing a turbulent time in North Carolina. The Democrats have led us into a deep recession that has brought our state to near bankruptcy; a tradition of corruption which has done irrefutable damage to our state’s reputation, and a tax system which does not allow us to be competitive with other states in the Southeast. My opponent, Dewy Hudson, and his fellow democrats want to continue on this downward spiral, peddling the same failed policies which got us into this mess in the first place.

You and I both know that we cannot allow them to succeed, or we risk losing North Carolina as we know it forever. It is up to ordinary citizens like you and me to lead North Carolina back to a stable government that supports growth and prosperity – not handouts and pet projects.

We the citizens of North Carolina and the 10th district cannot sit around and send Dewy Hudson to represent us in Raleigh! His allegiance is to Marc Basnight and his extravagant spending policies, protection of Obama Care, and continued red tape that stifles our small businesses.

Families like yours and mine are the reason that I want to represent this district in Raleigh, and you are the reason that I will win this election in November. Please help send someone to Raleigh who is willing to do the right thing even in the face of adversity. I thank you for your support and may God bless you and the people of North Carolina.

Again, please consider becoming a Brent Jackson for Senate campaign volunteer. To volunteer you can call my office at (910) 567-2202 or e-mail me at brent@brentjacksonforsenate.com. With your help, we can take back our state – and preserve the American way of life for generations to come.

We are less than a month away from making history on November 2, 2010. I just want to remind everyone that the last day to register to vote in this year’s elections is October 8, 2010. I want to encourage everyone to please register, as your voice is never louder than at the polls. We need everyone to make their voices heard so that we will be able to make some much needed changes in Raleigh and in Washington.
I also want to encourage everyone to take advantage of early voting which starts on Oct. 14th. Early voting is a great way to make voting much more convenient for you the voter. The early voting locations for Sampson, Lenoir, and Duplin Counties are as follows:

Duplin Co.

Last Tuesday we held our Fall Campaign Kickoff, ‘Race to the Finish’, with special guest Dale Jarrett. Thanks to David Lewis and all the volunteers who helped make this event a success. Most importantly, thanks to all the citizens of the 10th district who came out to show me their support.
As we go into the final stretch of the campaign, we are excited to once again hit the road and meet the great people of the 10th district. We will be a guest at Swinsons’ Customer Appreciation Day on Sept.23rd at the Duplin Co. Events Center. We will also be holding a Meet –N- Greet at Duplin Winery on Sept. 28th at 5:30pm at the Bistro at Duplin Winery. We are really looking forward to seeing all of friends in Duplin Co. Then on Oct. 7th we will be heading to Kinston for an event at Kendall Hill Farms with special guest NC Ag Commissioner Steve Troxler. We hope to see everyone there.
Everyone on the Brent Jackson Campaign is really excited going into the home stretch. Our polls have us neck-n-neck with our opponent. We feel we have a great shot at sending a true conservative to represent the 10th district, but we are going to need everyone’s help. If you or anyone you know is interested in volunteering please contact us at (910) 567-2202 or email us at admin@brentjacksonforsenate.com.

Greetings from the campaign trail. We have been very busy the past two weeks getting started with our campaign efforts for the general election, which is shaping up to be a very close race.

We will be holding our Fall campaign kickoff fundraiser event, ‘Race to the Finish’, on September 14th at the Sampson Ag-Exposition Center. The doors will open at 6:00pm. We will have NASCAR legend Dale Jarrett in attendance, along with food and music from The Carolina Breakers. Dale Jarrett will be bringing two of his race cars, one being a simulator car, and will be signing autographs throughout the event. Tickets are $25 per person. For more information and tickets you can call (910) 567-6680 or email admin@brentjacksonforsenate.com . Sponsorships are also available starting at $250. Come out and have a fun filled evening for the entire family, while helping support my bid for the NC Senate.

Everyone on the Brent Jackson for Senate Campaign is excited about finishing this election strong. We will make history when we send a true fiscal conservative to represent the tenth district in Raleigh, but we are going to need everyone’s help. If you or anyone you know would like to volunteer with the campaign please email us at admin@brentjacksonforsenate.com or call us at (910) 590-0494.
